At Good Citizens Eyewear, we are committed to upholding the highest ethical, environmental, and workplace standards across every stage of our manufacturing and assembly in Sydney, Australia.
This Code of Conduct applies to all employees, contractors, and suppliers involved in the production and supply of our eyewear products.
1. Oversight and Management
Our Company Director, Nik Robinson, is personally present at every production run to ensure compliance with this Code.
Monthly supplier inspections are conducted by Nik Robinson or Jocelyne Simpson to confirm ongoing adherence to Good Citizens’ standards.
2. Labour and Workplace Standards
Full compliance with the Australian Fair Work Act 2009.
Fair wages that meet or exceed national minimum standards.
Safe, clean, and healthy working environments.
Prohibition of child labour, forced labour, and discrimination.
Respect for freedom of association and the right to collective bargaining.
3. Health and Safety
Regular safety audits and risk assessments.
Mandatory training in workplace health and safety procedures.
Proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) where required.
Emergency exits, first aid kits, and fire safety equipment accessible and maintained.
4. Environmental Responsibility
Minimising waste and optimising recycling throughout production.
Responsible energy and water usage.
Full compliance with local environmental regulations.
5. Ethical Materials and Product Integrity
All materials ethically sourced, certified recycled, or sustainably produced.
Products meet strict quality assurance standards for safety and durability.
No tolerance for unverified environmental claims.
6. Insurance and Risk Management
Business Insurance with CGU Insurance.
Workers Compensation Insurance with icare NSW.
Product and Public Liability Insurance underwritten by Lloyd’s of London.
All insurance policies are current and compliant with Australian legal requirements.
7. Anti-Bribery and Transparency
No bribery, kickbacks, or corrupt practices at any stage of production or supply.
Open, honest, and fair business conduct.
8. Compliance Monitoring
Monthly supplier checks documented, with corrective actions issued if required.
Non-compliance may result in termination of supplier or contractor relationships.

Global Recycled Standard (GRS) – Certified by Control Union, verifying genuine recycled content, ethical production, and traceability (Certificate issued 18 February 2022).
FDA Approval (U.S.A.) – Starlinger recycling process (PNC 608) approved for food contact under 21 CFR 177.1630.
EFSA Approval (Europe) – EFSA Journal 2020;18(5):6793 confirms suitability for food packaging and human use.
Our recycled PET meets both U.S. FDA and European EFSA food-grade purity standards, proving it is clean, safe, and truly sustainable.

Our sun lenses are cut and fitted by Carl Zeiss Vision Australia at their advanced facility in Adelaide. As an Australian employer, Carl Zeiss Vision Australia operates under the Fair Work Act 2009, ensuring fair wages, safe working conditions, and lawful employee entitlements. This commitment was formalised through the approval of the Carl Zeiss Vision Australia Employees Workplace Agreement by the Fair Work Commission in 2013.
